runs two big discount events a year for Prime members. The first is the mid-year Prime Day. The second is the one happening right now: Prime Big Deal Days, October 6 and 7, 2026. That's 48 hours of deals, for Prime members only, in 22 countries.
If you're reading this on October 7, you still have time. And if you're late, below you'll find the calendar for the rest of the year so it doesn't happen again.
In this article I cover what the event is, when it starts and ends in Colombia time, how to tell whether a deal is real, what to keep in mind if you buy from Latin America, and how to save a bit more on games and software.
What Prime Big Deal Days is (the "October Prime Day")
Prime Big Deal Days is the year's second Prime Day–style event. Amazon has held it every October since 2022 (that first year it was called the Prime Early Access Sale), and almost everyone just calls it "October Prime Day". In 2026 the summer Prime Day moved up to June, so this is the big event before Black Friday.
What you need to know:
- Dates: Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
- Start time: 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on October 6, which is 2:01 a.m. in Colombia.
- End time: it ends at the close of October 7 Pacific Time, which means the early hours of October 8 in Colombia.
- Who can buy: the deals are exclusive to Prime members.
- How the deals work: on top of the discounts that last the whole event, Amazon releases limited-time deals several times a day. If something catches your eye, don't leave it in the cart "for tomorrow".
Don't have Prime? Amazon offers a 30-day free trial, which is more than enough for the event. If you won't use it afterwards, set a reminder to cancel it before the monthly fee is charged.
Where to see all the deals
These are the official event pages on Amazon US (the one you want if you're buying from Latin America) and on Amazon Spain, where the event is called Fiesta de Ofertas Prime. If you're in Spain, check the exact dates for your store on the page.

Amazon sales calendar for the rest of 2026
| Event | Date | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Prime Day (mid-year) | June 2026 | Already over. It was the first Prime event of the year. |
| Prime Big Deal Days | October 6–7 | 48 hours, Prime only, a good time to get holiday gifts early. |
| Black Friday | Friday, November 27 | Open to everyone. Amazon usually kicks off its deals "week" a few days earlier. |
| Cyber Monday | Monday, November 30 | Strong on tech, electronics and digital products. |
As of early October, Amazon hadn't announced any other Prime-exclusive sale for the rest of 2026. So if you miss this event, the next big chance is Black Friday.
How to tell a real deal from an inflated "discount"
At these events it's common to see a "was" price that nobody ever paid. Before you buy:
- Check the price history. Amazon shows up to 365 days of price history on the product page. If the "sale" price is the same one it had in August, it isn't a deal.
- Use alerts. With Amazon's price alerts (now built into its shopping assistant) you can get notified when a product drops. External tools like Keepa or CamelCamelCamel also work.
- Make your list first. The best way not to overspend is to go in knowing what you need. Anything that wasn't on your list probably isn't a saving, it's a new expense. If you work from home and don't know where to start, 8 Amazon products for entrepreneurs and freelancers gives you a starting list.
- Compare outside Amazon. Especially for digital products (games, software, subscriptions), Amazon isn't always the cheapest. I share an alternative below.
Buying on Amazon from Colombia and Latin America: what to check
The price you see on the listing isn't the price you pay. Before you get excited about a 40% discount, check this:
- The checkout total. Amazon adds international shipping and, for many countries, an estimated import duties deposit. That total is the number you should compare with what the product costs in your country.
- Shipping eligibility. Not every product ships to every country. Filter for the ones that reach yours before building your list.
- Electronics: check the voltage, plug type and whether the warranty is valid outside the United States.
- The cost of paying in dollars. Your bank charges an exchange rate and sometimes international purchase fees. On big purchases, that eats into the discount.
What I use to pay and shop safely
- To pay in dollars: I use Global66 to handle dollars from Latin America. With my referral link you get 10% cashback on purchases. It's a referral link: it helps you and it helps me keep the blog going.
- To shop safely: I pay with temporary virtual credit cards from Nu. If the card leaks, nothing happens, because it stops existing. I explain more about how they work in my take on Nubank in Colombia.
Extra savings on digital: games, software and gift cards
If your list includes video games, software licenses, subscriptions or gift cards, it's worth comparing before buying on Amazon. Digital keys don't pay shipping or import duties, and specialized stores often sell them cheaper.
I use Eneba for that. If you're buying games or software, you get 5% off at Eneba with my link. It's an affiliate link: it's cheaper for you and it helps me keep the blog running.
My checklist for these 48 hours
- Build your list with what you actually need (and a budget cap).
- Turn on Prime or the 30-day free trial, and schedule the cancellation if you won't use it.
- Check the price history of every product before paying.
- Look at the checkout total with shipping and taxes, not the listing price.
- Pay with a virtual card and check how much your bank charges for the conversion.
- Compare games, software and gift cards in other stores before buying them on Amazon.
- If something doesn't convince you today, note it down for Black Friday (November 27).
Summary
Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 and 7, 2026, it's Prime only, and in Colombia it starts at 2:01 a.m. on the 6th. It's a good window to get year-end shopping done early, as long as you buy with a list, check the price history and do the math with shipping and taxes included. And if you missed it, the next stop is Black Friday.
